When Does Season 4 Of ‘Warzone’ And ‘Modern Warfare’ End And Season 5 Begin?

Season 4 of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and its free-to-play counterpart, Warzone, is nearing an end. There’s only a few days left to finish up the Season 4 Battle Pass and nab the Nightfall Captain Price skin and the Emissary Assault Rifle Kilo Blueprint, the two Tier 100 rewards for the season.

Big changes are coming to both Modern Warfare multiplayer and Warzone next season. It’s almost 100% confirmed that the Stadium in Warzone will open its doors, providing players with a new interior location filled with loot and new combat opportunities.

It’s also possible that we’ll see a train added either to the Warzone map or as a map within Modern Warfare. Rumors of a missile strike on Verdansk also persist—could we see some nuclear fallout in Season 5? It seems possible. We should also start getting some hints of the future during next season, and how Warzone will be incorporated into Call Of Duty 2020 which is almost certainly Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (thanks Doritos!)

There’s also the new Shadow Company faction, which brings two new Operators to Modern Warfare and Warzone and has apparently enlisted Roze:

Okay, but I haven’t answered the question posed in the headline yet, have I? My apologies. I figured a little preface was helpful.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4 ends on August 4th whereupon downtime will begin and Season 5 will kick off on August 5th—barring some sort of delay.

Season 4 was delayed back in June as protests over the killing of George Floyd erupted across the nation (and the globe) but those protests—while still taking place—are not the centerpiece of the national dialogue at the moment. Granted, it’s 2020 and between a global pandemic, sweeping protests over racial inequality and a very likely constitutional crisis come November, anything is possible.

Maybe Season 5 of will be delayed due to an alien invasion, or the super-volcano under Yellowstone National Park erupting, or a decidedly dark turn in the Murder Hornet invasion. I rule nothing out anymore.

But if all goes well, I anticipate that Season 4 will draw to a close the evening of the 4th (next Tuesday) with some downtime for updates followed by an early morning launch of Season 5. We’ll keep you appraised with any changes or updates so stay tuned.

I’m very much looking forward to another season of Modern Warfare and Warzone. So far I really think Infinity Ward has knocked it out of the park and I’ve spent far more time with this Call of Duty than with basically any before it. It’s easily my most-played game of 2020, though I play significantly more Modern Warfare than Warzone, largely thanks to Gunfight mode which is easily the most fun I’ve had with a shooter in years. Gunfight alone is worth the price of admission for Modern Warfare.

In any case, we should see map changes for Warzone and new maps and Gunfight maps for Modern Warfare in Season 5 alongside a brand new premium Battle Pass and two new free weapons. See you on the battlefield.

Here’s some splitscreen gameplay of me playing Gunfight with my kids. Both my 13-year-old daughter (first match) and 10-year-old son (second match) love it and want to play it more than Fortnite these days.

See you on the battlefield!
