How, where to buy coronavirus face masks in Charlotte NC

Local businesses known for clothing, alterations and Charlotte-themed gear are now also offering handmade cloth face masks amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Local businesses known for clothing, alterations and Charlotte-themed gear are now also offering handmade cloth face masks amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Phase 1 of Gov. Roy Cooper’s COVID-19 reopening plan allowed retail businesses to open and operate at reduced capacity. Prior to the reopening, there was discussion around whether it would be mandatory to wear a face mask when out in public to hinder the likelihood of infection.

As of right now, the mandate has not been implemented. However, county manager Dena Diorio suggested on Tuesday that businesses should put up signs that read “no entry without a face mask,” as not many people are wearing masks when they go into retail stores, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Development reporter Danielle Chemtob tweeted that Michael Marsicano of the Foundation of the Carolinas reiterated the importance of masks, wondering how to get the word out that “this is not just about protecting yourselves, it’s about protecting other people.”

Face masks are in high demand, but the “out of stock” note on Amazon shouldn’t deter you from purchasing protection. Rather, get off that app and instead support these local retailers that are offering hand-made cloth face coverings:
